I am extremely pleased on behalf of the Academic Managing Body and me to greet the participants in the Annual Scientific Session of the University of National and World Economy. It is the seventh edition which will present the results of our scientific research activity during 2014, outlined at the opening of the Forum the Rector of the university Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev. At the event attended Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Valentin Goev, Vice Rector on Scientific Research Activity, Prof. Dr. Veselka Pavlova, Vice Rector on Education in the EQD of Master and Distance Learning, Nikolay Bakardzhiev, Assistant Rector, lecturers from Faculties and Departments of the university.

Statty Stattev, Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Valentin Goev, Vice Rector on Scientific Research Activity, Prof. Dr. Veselka Pavlova, Vice Rector on Education in the EQD of Master and Distance Learning, Nikolay Bakardzhiev, Assistant Rector, lecturers from Faculties and Departments of the university.

The Annual Scientific Session has confirmed as an authoritative academic Forum and an important event in the UNWE life, as one of our new traditions and spiritual space for balance, for general review of the university achievements in the field of economics, management, sociology, politics, law, etc., outlined the importance of the event Prof. Stattev. He said that the Forum had built up a bridge between the scientific activity of all separate units of UNWE and it had allowed to be made an objective assessment of the status and perspectives of science at the university. “For 2014 the balance is the following: a rise in the research activity and creativity, an increase in the number of international, national and university projects worked out by the university. It is also shown by the Programme of the Annual Scientific Session which is an evidence for the serious and profound work of the university researchers. It is also our contribution as a leader in the Bulgarian and European research area”, emphasized the Rector.

Prof. Valentin Goev, Vice Rector on Scientific Research Activity outlined the importance of the Forum and pointed out that the university scientists had had all the grounds of being contented with their achievements. 33 is the total number of the scientific projects completed during the year, outlined the Rector and differentiated the scientific product: 26 university projects, 6 international ones financed on the Human Resources Development Operational Programme and 1 project financed by the Scientific Researches Fund to the Ministry of Education and Science. During the year are implemented 134 projects, 101 of them with continuing term. Prof. Goev pointed out also the main problem for the scientific activity related to the reduction of target subsidy for the university scientific researches which for several years had been decreased to 450&nbsp;000 BGN from 1&nbsp;200&nbsp;000 BGN in 2009. He also expressed the willingness of the Rectors Managing Body to continue the project for career growth at the university using allocated funds from the UNWE budget.
