Lecturer from The UNWE Participated in An International Forum in Taiwan

In the end of February and beginning of March Prof. Dr. Dimitar Velev from the Information Technologies and Communications Department delivered two reports in the International Conference on Innovations in the Education and Management in Taichung city (Taiwan). His reports were dedicated to the actual issues of information technologies application in disaster risk reduction reviewing the results of work on two projects managed by him (one international and one national project). During the Conference Prof. Velev established academic contacts with relative IT Departments in Taiwan.

Prof. Velev invited the attendees at the Forum to participate in the Sixth International Conference on the Application of Information and Communication Technologies and Statistics in the Economics and Education – ICAICTSEE (indexed in ProQuest, EBSCO and Google Scholar) which will took place at the UNWE in the autumn.

Prof. Velev visited the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR) in the capital city Taipei where he was met by the Director Mr. Hongyi Chen and by the Chief Secretary Dr. Wei-Sen Li. Prof. Velev was informed about the most modern achievements of the Center in the field of information technologies application in disaster risk reduction.

It was discussed the NCDR participation in the First IFIP Conference on Information Technology in Disaster Risk Reduction (ITDRR 2016) organized by Prof. Velev. There were achieved some agreements about the exchange of materials on common issues of fight with disasters, establishment of academic contacts with the relevant Taiwanese universities, readiness for joint projects, preparation for signing a memorandum between the NCDR and the International Federation for Information Processing Domain Committee on IT in Disaster Risk Reduction (IFIP DCITDRR) whose Secretary is Prof. Dr. Dimitar Velev.
