Public Lecture on The Intellectual Property Protection in The USA and Bulgaria

A public lecture on the Intellectual Property Protection Practices in the USA and Bulgaria was read by Seiji Shiratori, Deputy Chief of Political/Economic Section of the US Embassy in our country. The event was organized by the Intellectual property Department and the American Embassy.

The public lecture of Mr. Shiratori was organized on the initiative of the Intellectual Property Department of UNWE by its Head Prof. Borislav Borisov and Coordinator of the meeting was Chief. Assist. Dr. Nikolai Krushkov.

The lecture has crucial practical importance and enriches our academic culture with new knowledge providing us a broader view in the field of intellectual property, pointed out Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of the UNWE.

The Rector expressed his gratitude to Seiji Shiratori and outlined that at the event were attending students form the UNWE and Technical University who had wanted to learn as much as possible not only from their professors but also from the international experts in the field of intellectual property. Prof. Stattev presented the guest-lecturer and outlined that he had worked at the US Embassies in Prishtina, Islamabad, Lisbon and other “hot points” in the world and he had good command of Portuguese, French, and Bulgarian.

Seiji Shiratori outlined he had worked on the topic for intellectual property in Bulgaria for several years and stated that the country had made serious steps in the field. By a lot of examples and comparative data he illustrated how were applied into practice the rights on intellectual property and spoke about the fight against fakes and piracy which had reached endangering scales nowadays having a considerable impact on innovations, growth and consumers safety.
