Lecturer from the International Economic Relations and Business Department Was a Visiting Professor in Kazakhstan

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pascal Zhelev from the International Economic Relations and Business Department has implemented an academic mobility at Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau University as part of the International Academic Programme for Visiting Professor administered by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Programme provides for the best Kazakh universities the opportunity to invite renowned researchers from prestigious foreign academic institutions to deliver a series of lectures, update curricula, improve the teaching and research process and promote international cooperation.

Assoc. Prof. Zhelev delivered a lecture course on Global Economy - Contemporary Issues and held consultations with Master's and PhD students. He also organized a seminar on the Artificial Intelligence and Academic Writing - Opportunities and Risks for the lecturers of the Higher School of Business and Law. At the end of his stay Assoc. Prof. Zhelev presented his proposals for improving the educational process in the economic field during a meeting with the Kazahstan University Managing Body.

It is not the first collaboration of our lecturer with the Kokshetau University. In 2020 Assoc. Prof. Zhelev held an online course for PhD students on academic writing and in 2021 he was a lecturer in the subject World Economy. For his contribution to the Kazakhstan University Assoc. Prof. Zhelev was awarded the Jubilee Medal "60 Years of Kokshetau University" by the Rector Prof. Marat Sirlbayev.

During his stay in Kazakhstan Assoc. Prof.  Zhelev had the opportunity to meet with longstanding friend of Bulgaria H. E. Temirtay Izbastin /Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria for the period 2009-2022/. Various ideas for promoting the bilateral trade, economic, cultural and educational relations between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan were discussed.

Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau University was founded in 1962. It educates 7500 students in 58 Bachelor`s, 42 Master`s and 10 Doctoral programmes. In 2023, the international rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds ranked Ualikhanov University at 29th place in the QS Asia University Rankings 2023: Central Asia and determined it among the top 600 Asian universities (QS Asia University Rankings 2023).
