Guest Lecturers from the Shanghai Zhao Tong University Spoke to Students about the New Aspects of Foreign Policy and Environmental Governance in China

Assoc. Prof. Dr. HUANG Ping and Assist. Dr. XIANG Chen from the Shanghai Zhao Tong University, which successfully cooperates with the UNWE through the Dual Master's Degree Programme in International Business and Management, were guest lecturers at our university under the Erasmus+ Programme.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pascal Zhelev, Vice Dean for Quality and International Cooperation of the International Economics and Politics Faculty and Coordinator from the UNWE for the Academic Cooperation Agreement with the Shanghai Zhao Tong University, opened the event by introducing the guest lecturers.

The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Bakalova, Dean of the International Economics and Politics Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasil Petkov, Head of the International Economic Relations and Business Department, Chief Assist. Dr. Borislava Stoimenova, lecturers from the International Economics and Politics Faculty and students.

"China's Foreign Policy in a New Era" was the topic of Assoc. Prof. Dr. HUANG Ping's examining the new concepts and policies in the foreign and international relations.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. XIANG Chen spoke on the Unveiling the Puzzle: Exploring the Enigma of Environmental Governance in China. According to her China's strive to fight the climate change and to improve the environmental conditions faces a huge challenge – the progress remains limited.


HUANG Ping is an associate professor in SIPA at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Berkeley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown University in the United States. She has obtained her PhD in Sociology of Religion from Hong Kong Baptist University Dr. Huang is included in the Shanghai Programme for Talents of Pudong. She has led research projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. Her research has been published in high-quality academic journals such as World Economy and Politics, The Journal of International Studies, and World Religious Cultures. Dr. Huang's research and publications are mainly focused on Chinese diplomacy, religion and politics as well as media and globalization issues.

Chen Xiang is an assistant in SIPA at Shanghai Zhao Tong University and she is also a Fulbright Scholar at the Harvard-China Project on Energy, Economics and the Environment at Harvard University. She has obtained her PhD in Politics from the University of Hong Kong and her Bachelor`s degree from the University of Fudan. Her research explores the antinomies that arise from the economic and political modernization such as development and ecology, nationalism and populism, and Chinese foreign policies. Her recent works has appeared in Environmental Science & Policy, Energy for Sustainable Development, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, and International Affairs.
