The Student Council at UNWE Again United the Students Around the Traditional Eco-Initiative “Let's Clean up the Student Town”

On 24 June it was held the traditional Eco-Initiative "Let's Clean up the Student Town" organized by the Student Council at UNWE in cooperation with the National Representation of Student Councils in the Republic of Bulgaria.

In the cleaning activity took part Mr. Daniel Parushev, Chairman of the National Representation of the Student Councils in the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Angel Stoykov, Chairman of the Alumni Club at UNWE Student Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dragomir Stefanov, Secretary General for the Social and Living Issues of Undergraduates and Foreign Students, members of the Student Council and residents of Sofia city. Their enthusiasm and active participation in cleaning of the most polluted places in the Student Town made a great impression.

The Eco-Initiative has become a traditional event for the Student Council at UNWE. Since 2011 annual green and cleaning campaigns have been organized to unite students around the cause of making the Student Town a better place to live. The objective is to encourage students to have more responsible attitude towards environmental protection.

The students cleaned the inter-block spaces around the blocks of the UNWE dormitories as well as the visibly polluted green areas, playgrounds and alleys in the area. Due to all participants in the initiative over 150 bags of rubbish were collected.

The Chairman of the Student Council Ilian Chabukliysky declared to his colleagues: "The purpose of such eco-initiatives is to make the Student Town a better and attractive place for our colleagues. I'm glad to see so many enthusiastic young people cleaning up the most polluted places today - you give a good example and I hope it will reach more and more people because it is up to us to live in a clean environment".

The next edition of the Eco-Initiative will be on 16 September 2023 when jointly with the National Representation of the Student Councils in the Republic of Bulgaria our students will take part in BTV Media group's campaign "Let's Clean up Bulgaria Together".
