Student Girls of Speciality International Economic Relations and Business Were Awarded in an International Business Competition

A team of student girls from the International Economic Relations Department consisting of Desislava Ilieva /3rd year, specialty International Economic Relations and Business/, Yulia Boyanova (3rd year, specialty International Economic Relations and Business/ and Veidehi Upasani (4th year, specialty International Economic Relations and Business taught in English/ were awarded in the World Asian Business Case Competition 2023 /WACC 2023/.

WACC is an annual business case competition organized by the Academy for Asian Business. The challenge of the Competition is to develop a case study about an exciting Asian company selected by the students and its successful way from a small business to turning into an example of a strong player in the international market. Last year over 400 teams of over 1000 students from universities and colleges around the world took part in the Competition.

The case study which was chosen and developed by the student team of specialty International Economic Relations and Business was dedicated to the Japanese company Meiji and its most successful product for 50 years - the yogurt entitled Bulgaria which is produced with a patent for the use of the Bulgarian Lactobacillus Bulgaricus bacteria. This unique resource combined with the company's excellent management experience and corporate culture has made this product one of the most preferred by millions of Japanese for decades and in addition to contributing to their longevity, it is the basis of highly positive image of Bulgaria in Japan and in other Asian countries where it is exported.

The mentor of the team of student girls from the specialities International Economic Relations and Business and International Economic Relations and Business taught in English is their lecturer from the International Economic Relations and Business Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monika Moraliiska.

The jury of the Competition awarded the team a diploma in the Honorable Mentions category which is a distinction that the student work was noticed and appreciated that enables it to be published in the scientific edition Academy of Asian Business Review.

On 8 July 2023 the student team and their mentor participated in the official awarding ceremony which took place online in the metaverse, in a space specially created for the Competition.
