New Double Bachelor`s Degree Programme with the UBT, Kosovo, Started at the University

In the town of Prishtina an agreement about double Bachelor's degree programme in Economics in English was signed by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Rector of the University of National and World Economy and Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, Rector of the University of Business and Technology /UBT/, Prishtina, in the presence of the Bulgarian Ambassador to Kosovo Hristo Gudjev. On behalf of UBT the ceremony was attended by the Vice Rector for Quality Assoc. Prof. Bekim Marmullaku and the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Business and Economics Assoc. Prof. Muhammad Gerwala and on behalf of UNWE – by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivaylo Beev, Head of the Economics Department, which will carry out the training, and Prof. Dr. Kamelia Assenova, Cooordinator of the Programme.

The UBT is a modern and leading higher education institution in Kosovo, committed to applying the latest teaching methodologies and techniques, modern approaches in teaching and research in an inclusive and student-centered environment, by applying a multidisciplinary approach that will contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of Kosovo. The UBT has among its main objectives to be a reference point that disseminates international best practices and quality standards in teaching and research promoting the professional development of lecturers and researchers as well as ensuring the successful future realization of their students.

The agreement signed between the UNWE and the UBT confirms the high appreciation of the UBT colleagues for the quality of the programmes and courses taught at the UNWE as well as the international recognition of UNWE scientists.  The new double Bachelor's degree programme in Economics in English is in line with the UBT objectives to disseminate in Kosovo the best international practices and quality standards in education.

In the recent years the internationalization strategy of UNWE has set as a top priority the attraction of foreign students and the international recognition of University's scientists. The implementation of the strategy requires a comprehensive approach whereby international students are attracted through agreements with foreign academic institutions. The advantages of UNWE as the largest economic university in Southeastern Europe are the numerous Bachelor`s and Master`s degree programmes in English, lecturers applying the latest methodologies in teaching as well as lectures and seminars based on the latest research.

The new dual Bachelor`s degree programme between the UNWE and the UBT will provide students from Kosovo with up-to-date knowledge and skills that will give the graduating students additional competencies. They will receive a double diploma - from the UBT and the UNWE which will enable them to find their professional realization at the common European market. "The UBT ecosystem combines education, research and industry. The University also actively works with pre-university education, i.e. with the schools. The signed agreement provides new opportunities for our students from the Faculty of Management, Business and Economics", said the Rector of UBT Prof. Dr. Edmond Hairizi.

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov explained that our university would be glad to partner and collaborate with the UBT. "At the same time, we also have a lot to learn from the achievements of UBT. Bulgaria and Kosovo have almost similar economic problems. And a good knowledge of both economies, the good relations between the colleagues from both countries will allow to find the optimal economic solutions."
