103 Years UNWE: The Rector Awarded the Champions of the National Student Olympiad in Mathematics and Bestowed Diplomas for Good Heart
The UNWE mathematics team again won the first place in the ranking of universities in Group B and first place in the team ranking in Group B at the National Student Olympiad in Mathematics in Montana. In the individual ranking in Group B our competitors also won 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The absolute champion in Group B is Kaloyan Stefanov who for second consecutive won the gold medal with a very big advance over the others. Milena Petkova also won a gold medal. Nia Nedelcheva, Ivan Talkov and Preslav Petrov won the silver medal in the category. Miriam Rime won a bronze medal.
The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov awarded diplomas for strengthening the good name and authority of UNWE and branded with the university logo hats, T-shirts and sweatshirts. Diploma for Good Heart for mutual help, support and for promoting the good name and prestige of UNWE as well as gifts were given to Helin Remzi and Stella Korcheva for helping an employee who felt bad at work.
"With this gesture we want to highlight the successes and good hearts of our students. Virtue should be encouraged", emphasized Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov.

"Our students achieved success at the most prestigious student competition - the National Student Olympiad in Mathematics not only to consolidate their last year success but more convincingly to win twice as many points as the second team which is a serious success for our Olympic team", said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maya Mikrenska, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Statistics and Head of the Mathematics Department. She explained that during the current year more efforts were made - an internal competition was organized to select the best competitors for the Olympiad from which two teams were formed. Assoc. Prof. Maya Mikrenska clarified that for the first time our students participated in the European Kangaroo Competition where they won first place. She expressed thankfulness for the support given them by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov for their efforts.

The President of the Student Council Ilian Chabukliysky also greeted the team which presented itself with dignity at the prestigious competition. "I am glad that the students of UNWE participate in such kind of competitions where they represent the University at national level. He wished them to work hard in the future, to achieve success and to make it a tradition for the University graduates to win such competitions.

Participants in the team were also Anna-Maria Pingelova, speciality Marketing and Strategic Planning taught in English, Elisaveta Savranska, speciality Business Economics and Usama Tuhamy, speciality Finance and Accounting taught in English.

The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov also awarded a diploma for Good Heart for mutual help, support and for promoting the good name and authority of UNWE to Helin Remzy and Stella Korcheva who provided life-saving assistance to an employee. Another participant - Prof. Dr. Sylvia Trifonova, Vice Dean for Quality and International Cooperation of the Finance and Accounting Faculty, told in details about the case and said that because of the timely response of the girls, the woman has stabilized. "These girls have extremely good hearts and should be an example for everyone."

The Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov received a surprise for the 103rd Anniversary of the University - a painting by Tsvetanka Torbova, an employee at the Public Procurement and Auctions Division.
