The First National Table Tennis Tournament for High School Pupils for the Cup of the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria /AESB/ was launched at the UNWE under the patronage of the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov. The co-organizers of the Tournament are Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian, Chairperson of the AESB and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov, Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department.

Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian opened the National Tournament and introduced the official guests. Among them were: the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Chairperson of AESB Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian, the Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova-Boshnakova, the Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, the Chairman of the UNWE Student Council Angel Stoykov, the Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov, Prof. Dr. Spas Stavrev, long-standing Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department, the Chief Referee of the Tournament Sen. Lect. Dr. Elena Moneva, Mrs. Emilia Ivanova, Director of NTBHS and Deputy Chairperson of AESB, Mrs. Maya Gesheva, Director of NSFE, member of the Coordinating Council of AESB, Mr. Yulian Plachkov, Director of 128th Secondary School named as a Significant Personality of Mladost district, Mrs. Lilia Velinova, representative of the sponsors of the competition Coca Cola Helenik, Chief Assist. Dr. Yasen Daskalov, Secretary of AESB, the physical education teachers from the three schools as well as lecturers from the UNWE.

Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian welcomed the attendees: "Hello dear pupils, welcome to the First National Table Tennis Tournament for High School Pupils for the AESB Cup at the UNWE under the patronage of the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov! It is the first joint event of AESB and the Physical Education and Sports Department at the UNWE and no joke, despite it`s the Joke Day, more than 60 high school pupils from three schools will participate in the Tournament - two of them are members of AESB - the National Trade and Banking High School /NTBHS/ and National High School in Finance and Business /NHSFB/ as well as 128th Albert Einstein School. I am proud that today jointly with the school principals and Phisycal Education teachers, we were able to motivate so many young people to get out and play sports on their take off day! I would like to mention that it is a pleasure for AESB to have as a partner the Physical Education and Sport Department of UNWE".

Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian underlined: "In this Department deliver lectures the leading specialists in many sports who not only teach and train but also have won numerous awards and sport achievements both as athletes competitors and as coaches. The UNWE teams compete with National Sport Academy teams and very often beat them. The Head of the Department Assoc. Prof. Stoilov is the main organizer of the futsal tournaments of the University Sports Association and coach of the national futsal team in the period 2014-2017. Assoc. Stoilov is the coach who led the UNWE team to the first place as the Futsal Cup Winner of Bulgaria 2018. Prof. Dr. Spas Stavrev is a long-standing Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department and the founder of 3x3 basketball. The Chief Referee of the Tournament Sen. Lect. Dr. Elena Moneva is a national table tennis champion and team champion of Bulgaria, Macedonia and Denmark for three years in each team". In her welcoming speech Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian also told interesting facts about the table tennis sport and its originate and wished success to pupils in the Tournament.

"There is a mood and spirit here", these were the words the Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov addressed the attendees and pointed out that the motto of the UNWE is The Spirit Makes the Power. "I should note that there is such a mood when we hold the competitions of the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria. We study but we also play sports and have fun. The celebration coincided with the Joke Day but what happens is not a joke. Our other motto is The Road to Goes Through the UNWE and you will see that the path of today's winner also goes through UNWE". The Rector wished the participants very good sporting and educational results.

Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova-Boshnakova, Vicer Rector for Educational Activities greeted the attendees for the competitive spirit of pupils. "We are looking forward to welcoming you as our students in the best university in economics and business in Southeastern Europe, a university that can give you a lot, can develop your potential and can strengthen your competitive spirit in science, in all professional fields that it offers and in sports. Prof. Alexandrova wished the participants to develop their competitive spirit in the future.

Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice-Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies addressed to the pupils: "After the tough competitions in Finance and Accounting, Economics, Economics and Management, I am extremely pleased to see motivated young people in Bonsist Sport Complex today, who are ready to give their best to win the first table tennis competition for the AESB Cup." I am sure that each one of you, doing sport, tempers his will and builds leadership qualities, shapes himself as a person and thanks to sport will be successfully realized in society and business. May the best win and at the beginning of the academic year 2023/2024 I will see you as part of the student community and sports teams of the UNWE."

"As soon as I entered the hall I was extremely impressed by the scale of the event, including to see the football hall filled with so many participants", said the Chairman of the Student Council Angel Stoykov. "We all know that sport gives a lot, it is health and motivation, the sport teaches us many things and I believe that this championship will continue in the future and it is a step in the right direction and could become a rival to the National Table Tennis Championship."
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov, Head of the partner of the event - the Physical Education and Sport Department, also welcomed the high school pupils. "Looking at you, I was taken back to the years when I was your age and had to make the important choices in life and I am happy that I made my choice with UNWE because I have met people who have given me a lot to be the person I am today in front of you." Assoc. Prof. Stoilov wished the participants to make their right choices.
The competitors were also greeted by Mrs. Emilia Ivanova, Director of the National Trade and Banking High School /NTBHS/, one of the founders and Deputy Chairperson of AESB, Mrs. Maya Gesheva, Director of the National School of Finance and Economics /NSFE/, member of the Coordinating Council of AESB, Mr. Yuliyan Plachkov, Director of 128 Albert Einstein High School, Mrs. Lilia Velinova, representative of the sponsor Coca Cola Helenik.

Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian pointed out that with the new membership of 128th "Albert Einstein" High School, the member schools of the AESB become 38 and it is the only educational structure of such scale in Europe and the world.

At the opening of the National Table Tennis Tournament was held the awarding ceremony of the winners in the AESB National Economics and Management Competition. The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov awarded the certificates and the representative of the sponsors of the competition Coca Cola Helenik Mrs. Lilia Velinova awarded the cash prizes to the winners.
The Rector of UNWE awarded Honorary Plaques to the three Directors of the schools participating in the National Table Tennis Tournament for the AESB Cup.
Sen. Lect. Dr. Elena Moneva explained the programme to the competitors.
The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and the Chairperson of AESB Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian gave the start of the Tournament by playing a game of tennis.
After the rival games Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian opened the official ceremony on awarding by the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov.
The Chief Referee of the Tournament Sen. Lect. Dr. Elena Moneva announced the ranking.
