The Prime Minister and Six Ministers in the Interim Government are Lecturers and Graduates of Our University

The interim Bulgarian government appointed by Decree of President Rumen Radev was headed by a graduate of UNWE.

Galab Donev became an interim Prime Minister. He has Master's degree in Finance from the UNWE and Master's degree in Law from the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse. He specialized in Business and Management at our university. From 2014 to 2016 he was Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. He was also Minister of Labour and Social Policy in the interim government headed by Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov in 2017. He has been Secretary for Social Policies and Health of the President Rumen Radev since 9 May 2017 to 11 May 2021. From May to December 2021, Galab Donev was Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Social Policies and interim Minister of Labour and Social Policy in both interim governments appointed by the President Rumen Radev.

The interim government includes six ministers who are also lecturers and graduates of UNWE.

Lazar Lazarov became an interim Deputy Prime Minister for Social Policies and interim Minister of Labour and Social Policy. He has Master's degree in Macroeconomics from the UNWE. He has also completed a course on Monitoring and Evaluation of Social Programmes and Projects in compliance with the International Labour Organisation Methodology. He has been an advisor to the Minister of Labour and Social Policy since August 2005 to November 2007. In the periods November 2007 - July 2009, June 2013 - August 2014, November 2014 - May 2016, February 2017 - May 2017, and from the end of September 2017 to the present Lazar Lazarov is Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy. He has been a Chairperson of a number of tripartite bodies for social dialogue in the areas of labour market, labour migration and labour mobility, policies for people with disabilities, equal opportunities for men and women, etc.

Hristo Alexiev occupied the post of interim Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and he is an interim Minister of Transport and Communications. He has Master's degree in International Economic Relations from the UNWE and Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Paisii Hilendarsky University of Plovdiv. He has obtained a number of additional qualifications and certificates in the field of economics, management and digitalization from the Imperial College London, Oxford University Business School and other international educational institutions. He was Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications in the interim government appointed by the President Rumen Radev in January 2017. Since September to December 2021 he has been again a Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications in the interim government appointed by the Head of State. Since March 2022 he occupies the post of Secretary for Economy of the President.

Rositsa Atanasova Velkova-Zeleva headed the Ministry of Finance. She has a Master's degree in Finance from the UNWE and 28 years of experience in the Ministry of Finance. In the period 2000-2001 she was Deputy Chairman of the existing at that time State Agency for Social Security Supervision. In 2008-2009 he represented the Republic of Bulgaria in the Group of Financial Experts and in the Finance Committee discussing UNESCO's budgetary, financial and administrative issues. In the period November 2017 - April 2021 she was Deputy Minister of Finance, April 2021 - December 2021 she served as Director of the Government Expenditure Directorate at the Ministry of Finance and since December 2021 to date she has been Deputy Minister of Finance.

Nikolay Milkov became an interim Minister of Foreign Affairs. He graduated International Relations at our university and he was a lecturer at the UNWE. Since 1997 he has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has held various positions in the diplomatic service, including Director of the Foreign Policy Planning, Information and Coordination Directorate, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs with portfolios of responsibility for European countries, including SEE and security issues. In this capacity he is a member of the Export Control Commission and Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Bulgaria's Membership in NATO. He was Ambassador of Bulgaria to Romania and Canada and Consul General in New York. He is currently Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the French Republic and the Principality of Monaco and Permanent Representative to UNESCO.

Georgy Todorov is the new interim Minister of E-Government. He has Master's degree in Law from the UNWE. His professional career has passed through the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Sofia Municipality and private business. Over the years he has been Minister and Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications in four governments headed by Plamen Oresharsky since July 2013 to August 2014, in the interim government headed by the Prime Minister Georgy Bliznashky since August to November 2014 and in the interim government headed by Ognian Gerdzhikov since February to March 2017. Georgy Todorov has many years of expert and managerial experience having been responsible for the Information Technologies and Communications sector, the Transport sector as well as for the digitalization process.

Atanas Pekanov became an interim Deputy Prime Minister for the EU Funds Management. He is a lecturer at the Economics Department of UNWE. Atanas Pekanov is an economist at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research /WIFO/ in Vienna, Austria and lecturer at Vienna University of Economics and Business /WU Wien/. He has previously worked at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, Germany. He has Bachelor`s degree in Economics from Vienna University of Economics and Business and Master`s degree in Economic Policy from the University College London. He holds a PhD in Economics from Vienna University of Economics and Business /WU Wien/ with a focus on Monetary and Fiscal Policy. Atanas Pekanov has been Deputy Prime Minister for the EU Funds Management since May to December 2021 in both interimr governments appointed by the President Rumen Radev.
