Scientific Conference on The Enhancement of Interest in Political Sciences at The UNWE

Enhancement of Interest in Political Sciences at the UNWE was the topic of the Scientific Conference organized by the Political Sciences Department in a partnership with Zlatarski International School and the Student Association EGO POLITICO. In the work of the Forum took part Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simeon Asenov, Vice Dean of the International Economics and Politics Faculty, Head of scientific project No. НИД НП – 10/2016 and Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee as well as the members of the Organizing Committee Chief Assist. Dr. Nikolay Krastev, Chief. Assist. Dr. Boyko Valchev and Assist. Ivayla Stoeva. Among the participants were also Prof. Dr. Georgy Yankov, Professor Emeritus of UNWE, Prof. D.Sc.(Hist.) Trendafil Mitev, Prof. D.Sc.(Soc.) Mihail Mirchev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elena Simeonova, Scientific Secretary of the Political Sciences Department, etc.

A welcoming speech on behalf of the Rector Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Statev was read to participants by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simeon Asenov. In it is pointed out that the topic of the Forum has been the consecutive evidence for the important academic and research work of the Department and that the UNWE is the leading university in the field of political sciences. A greeting address was also read by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Blaga Blagoeva, Head of the Political Sciences Department.

Lots of our pupils choose the UNWE and the professional field of Political Sciences for their future professional development, outlined in his greeting speech Dr. Boris Todorov, Deputy Director of Zlatarski International School. He expressed his thankfulness for the opportunity given to the International School of being co-organizer and participant in that important Scientific Forum.

The Conference was organized in three panels: Mission, Advantages and Opportunities of Higher Education in Political Sciences at the UNWE, Role of Secondary and Higher Education in Forming an Active Civil Society in Bulgaria and Active Citizen and Political Participation in the Vision of Young Generations.

The major report was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simeon Asenov and it was entitled: Political Science at the UNWE: Educational Tendencies and Challenges. He outlined that the UNWE had been the leader in the national educational area of political sciences striving for modern education and European educational standards. Assoc. Prof. Simeonov spoke also about the academic life at the Department, its 26 alumni of students, lecturers, academic practice and internships in a real working environment as well as about the opportunities of graduates for professional realization, etc.

In the work of the Conference took part lecturers from the Political Science Department, International Relations Department and Media and Public Communications Department of UNWE, Technical University of Sofia and Zlatarski International School.
