From Study Mobility to Traineeship: My Erasmus+ Journey at UNWE

My Erasmus+ journey began in Greece, but it soon led me to Bulgaria and to the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in Sofia a decision that would change much more than just my academic environment.

For me, this choice carried a deep personal meaning. My parents are originally from Bulgaria, and I had always felt the need to better understand the country, its culture, and, above all, my own roots. Erasmus+ gave me the opportunity to combine knowledge with self-discovery, education with reconnection. Although the academic experience was sometimes demanding and required dedication, the support and guidance of the professors made everything clear and understandable. Their willingness to explain and assist helped me overcome the initial challenges and adapt successfully to the new academic environment.

The academic environment, the people, and the international atmosphere inspired me to continue. For this reason, I decided to extend my stay by starting a traineeship, which I am still undertaking today. Through this new chapter, I am developing professionally, acquiring valuable skills, and witnessing firsthand how international academic cooperation turns into meaningful, real-life experience.

Special mention deserves the Erasmus Office, which stood by my side from the very first moment. Their continuous support, prompt responsiveness, and genuine willingness to help made every stage from my arrival to the organization of my traineeship smoother and more reassuring.

For me, Erasmus+ was not simply a study abroad period. It was an experience of growth, a bridge between my past and my future, and a journey that continues to shape who I am.

And the most beautiful part is that this journey is not over yet…
