Application Procedure

             

Application documents should be submitted until 20.06.2025 (for enrollment from the winter semester) or until 24.10.2025 (for enrollment from the summer semester) at the International Students Division (Central Lobby), personally by the applicant or by an authorized representative.

1. For applicants who has completed their higher education at the foreign university there is a procedure for recognition of higher education degree which is carried out before the procedure for the issue of certificate from the Ministry of Education and Science. Documents, submitted by the applicant are sent to the National Center for Information and Documentation (NCID) under the Ministry of Education and Science in order to verify the statute of the foreign university, as well as the authenticity of the Diploma.
2. After the response from the NCID has been obtained, the documents that meet the requirements should be considered by the UNWE Committee for recognition of acquired higher education and completed periods of studying at the foreign universities. The Rector of the UNWE makes a decision, concerning the recognition of the relevant degree of higher education, acquired aboard, for the purpose of further education, based on a report from the Committee.
3. When the procedure of recognition of the respective degree of higher education is completed, the International Students Division uploads the documents of applicants to the Ministry of Education and Science – Higher Education Directorate in order to issue a certificate.
4. After the certificate from the Ministry of Education and Science is ready, the International Students Division notifies the applicants that they can get their certificate personally or by an authorized representative and should submit their documents for a visa “D”.
5. Documents for a visa “D” should be submitted at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the country where the applicant comes from. Issuing of visa “D” may take about a month or more.
6. Foreign student will be enrolled, respectively for a preparatory course in language and specialized training or for education at the Master's degree program, after Rector’s decision, concerning the recognition of the relevant degree, for the purpose of further education, and after they have received a visa "D" and have arrived in the Republic of Bulgaria. The enrolment take place at the office of International Students Division.
