At the beginning of the lecture Assoc. Plamen Ralchev, Head of the International Relations Department, briefly presented the biography and professional career of the guest-lecturer and introduced the audience in the topic pointing out the directions of French policy and the important role of French language as an instrument of influence. He also outlined how unique it was for students to have a person with extensive professional experience in the European Parliament standing in front of them and to receive first-hand information about the job opportunities in the European institutions.

She presented the objectives the French government has set for the French Presidency of the Council of the EU. "One of them is to create a Europe of Cooperation in order to achieve a free and sovereign European Union and European sovereignty. According to the Presidency, it will also be achieved through common defence. Another priority is the stability and prosperity of the countries located in an immediate neighbourhood with the EU."

She presented the objectives the French government has set for the French Presidency of the Council of the EU. A special highlight in Miryana Stancheva's presentation was why the French language is important. "Bulgaria is part of the International Organisation of La Francophonie. It means that it is one of the countries with a strong presence and command of the French language", added also the lecturer.
