In an interview for the UNWE Newspaper Prof. Dr. Margarethe Rammerstorfer, Vice-Rector for Academic Programmes and Student Affairs at Vienna University of Economics and Business - WU Wien /in the picture below/ told about the potential of ENGAGE.EU, hopes and perspectives for the future development of WU Wien.

Prof. Rammerstorfer, what potential do you see in ENGAGE.EU and why?

The European universities are a prestigious project of the European Union and its member-states, which on the one hand, has an objective to strengthen Europe as a place of higher education, and on the other hand, it is seen as an important contribution to the social and economic development and innovative power of Europe. As an alliance of seven leading European universities in the business, economy and social sciences, we will unite our efforts to provide a new generation of Europeans with the skills necessary to manage with the major issues related to the future of Europe. The objective of ENGAGE.EU is to have a well-founded discussion on these main societal challenges from a social and economic perspective, for example, by developing joint courses, establishing networks of scientists from the participating universities as well as an exchange with the civil society in Europe.

What are your best hopes about the ENGAGE.EU?

One of my best hopes is actually to bring together a new generation of creative Europeans capable of working together across different languages, borders and disciplines to manage with the social challenges and lack of skills in Europe. I would really like to see how the future-oriented great ideas and personalities grow.

What is your wish to the students of UNWE?

What you obtain at the university is a variety of different colours to learn how to combine them and how to create an infinite amount of different shades and mixtures. What you draw at the end and what you will be depends ultimately on you. Do your best, try to get to the best but also give yourself some time to grow as a person and develop additional skills. I am sure that the online courses ENGAGE.EU will provide interesting and useful information about your field of study at the UNWE. Keep in mind that learning involves much more than focusing on your academic progress. ENGAGE.EU offers you a platform – use this opportunity to connect with your colleagues from the other partner universities. So come ready to expand your mind — with a new spirit and new perspectives!
