Bucharest University of Economic Studies and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies Students’ Union, through the Students’ Senate, with the scientific mentorship of the Faculty of Accounting and Management Information Systems (CIG) will organize this upcoming summer, between 13th and 27th of August 2023, the 17th edition of Bucharest Summer University, featuring the following theme: „Corporate Sustainability Reporting: Challenges & Opportunities”.

Bucharest Summer University is a world class event which focuses mainly on economic issues and aims to promote common academic values to students from all around the world and to develop prospects of participants through dialogue and debates with specialists from the academic and the business environment. Benefitting from an increasing promotion from year to year, the project attracts a growing number of multinational companies, which want to join forces with the organizing team in order to help at the development of the next generation of economists.

The participants of Bucharest Summer University are students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program, a master’s degree program or a PhD degree program from all over the world (2022’s edition gathered 50 participants from 24 countries belonging to 4 continents). Upon successfully completing the two weeks of lectures, seminars, workshops and debates held and moderated by professors, national and international specialists, along with the final examination, the participants may obtain 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

Bucharest Summer School was honoured to have a wide range of valuable speakers amongst which we iterate: Mircea Geoana (President of the Aspen Institute, Romania), Claudia Tapardel (Member of the European Parliament), Dr. Jeffrey R Franks (Head of Romanian Delegation of International Monetary Fund ), Gürbüz Bahadir (President of SECI Center), Dr. Isaac Sheps (CEO Carslberg UK Ltd, Board member in URBB Tuborg-Romania), Niels Schnecker (Senior Manager Partner at Schnecker van Wyk & Pearson), Jennifer Giroux (Senior Researcher, Crisis and Risk Network (CRN), Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich, Switzerland), Prof. Dr. Robert Orttung, PhD (Assistant Director of the Institute for European, Russian,  and Eurasian Studies, Research Associate Professor of International Affairs), Prof. Recep Pekdemir, PhD (Professor of Accounting at the School of Business at Istanbul University, Director Focusing on International of the American Accounting Association, Member of Management Board of the EAA European Accounting Association).
