Short description
|
Set up of concrete indicators for sustainable development (SD) and an assessment of its four dimensions: environmental, economic, social and institutional.
Identification of potential comparative advantages of the Bulgarian economy which appropriate utilization would be in line with the high EU environmental and social standards.
Determination of key dependences between the principles for SD and the competitiveness manifested on the following level:
(а) national economy (macroeconomic);
(b) sector/branch;
(c) company.
Quantitative and qualitative comparative analyses at a global, regional (EU) and national level, consistent with the sustainability criteria of the EU and the United nations. The analysis is based on
primary and secondary research.
Interdisciplinary synergetic approach, determined by the complexity of the category sustainable development, which covers four different dimensions.
Application of Cost: Benefit analysis for determination of the optimal approach for achievement of two mutually supportive objectives: (a) fulfillment of the criteria for SD and (b) improved competitiveness.

|
Development of concrete managerial solutions and mechanisms for achievement of environmentally friendly economic growth and lesser dependence on import of raw materials and energy sources.

To build a team of researchers who offer the state institutions alternative solutions, related to the challenges of the SD.
