On February 3, 2021 the UNWE Academic Council unanimously voted the proposal for awarding the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of UNWE to Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, submitted by Prof. Dr. Lalko Dulevsky, Chairperson of UNWE General Assembly and Head of the Human Resources and Social Protection Department and by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov as Head of the National and Regional Security Department.
The honorary academic title is awarded for the merits of Assoc. Prof. Kristalina Georgieva as an internationally recognized leader and visionary in the development of the global economy and the stabilization of financial institutions, human capital and social change aimed at improving people's lives, for the great practical value of her academic and scientific achievements in the field of economics, climate change and sustainable development on a global scale as well as for her contribution to the overcoming of humanitarian crises and disasters through prevention and quick operational action.
