95th Academic Year Was Officially Opened

“Today is a significant day in the history of our university because we open the 95^th academic year”, outlined in the crowded Maxima Aula the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev. Vladislav Goranov, Financial Minister was the official guest for the opening of the new academic year. The beginning of the official ceremony was announced by the sounds of the national, European and then the student anthem "Gaudeamus igitur".

Today the UNWE opens its doors for 4370 first year students who are the 95^th alumnus in our glorious history, pointed out the Rector emphasizing on the fact that the university had won the confidence and desire of young people to choose it for their higher school. He highlighted the reasons of that: the UNWE is a university of success, it fervently keeps and develops its academic traditions, the UNWE creates educational and scientific standards, it constantly goes forward, it improves the academic plans and programmes and dedicatedly works for enhancing the quality of education in relation to the practice, the UNWE is always some steps ahead of its academic brothers and most of all it is the university which has prepared the Bulgarian elite for already 95 years and diplomas of its graduates are a guarantee for their successful career.

Prof. Stattev is greeting the first year students.

“We live in interesting but difficult times. We should be strong because new trials, difficulties, challenges are in for us and we ought to give worthy answers and make competent decisions for going forward. We have proved we can do that. Let`s go on doing that. Let we be a worthy followers of our academic founders – those who with legendary diligence, revival energy and enormous love to the knowledge and native land had implemented their epochal work by setting the foundations of today`s UNWE – the leader in Bulgarian and European educational area which enjoys the respect of academic circles, foreign partners, state and business, the whole society”, outlined also Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev.

The Financial Minister Vladislav Goranov

The Rector Prof. Stattev awarded to the Minister Goranov a Certificate and Commemorative Medal of Prof. Stephan Bobchev – Founder and First Rector of UNWE. The distinction was conferred on him for “his institutional and human support for repairing the academic New building of UNWE and for his commitment to the issues of Bulgarian higher education and science” (in the picture below).  

On behalf of the Students Council its Chairman Denis Dimitrov greeted the first year students for the opening of the new academic year. He greeted them also for the good choice and reminded that at the UNWE they would have the opportunity to improve themselves and obtain a lot of skills and knowledge. Never stop learning, insist for more and more knowledge from your lecturers because one day you should find realization at the labour market and then you`ll be assessed according to the base of your knowledge you have obtained at the university, said Denis Dimitrov.

The first year student girl from the subfield of Finance, Accountancy and Control Petra Foteva, graduate of the Trade High School in Bourgas and admitted with the highest score at the UNWE greeted the lecturers and her colleagues. It`s in for us to realize our dreams and so we should be very brave and independent and learn to take responsibility for our actions for being worthy and leave a deep trace behind us. I believe that the UNWE is the place where we all will have that opportunity but it depends only on us to make use of it, pointed out the first year student girl.

After the official ceremony the Rector and the Financial Minister laid wreaths in front of the monument of the founder and first Rector of UNWE Prof. Stephan Bobchev (in the picture below).
