Prof. Musov also highlighted the problem related to the necessity to use different indicators for the evaluation of scientific results in the social sciences and humanities compared to those in other research areas, in order to ensure the fairness of the evaluation, especially when it is used as a criterion for funding universities. The necessity of an application that would allow integrated reporting of universities' publication activity in the two global databases, Scopus and Web of Science, by automatically detecting publications that are simultaneously indexed in both databases, was also discussed. Other topics of conversation included: the open science; the drafting of a new European Charter for Researchers; the balance between the qualitative assessment of research results and the responsible use of quantitative indicators; ways to measure the impact of research on societal development, etc.
