The team of UNWE won the first place in the ranking of higher schools and first place in the team ranking in group B at the National Student Olympiad in Mathematics (NSOM'2022). In the individual rankings Kaloyan Stefanov took the gold medal in group B, Petar Kyumyurdzhiev -  the silver medal, Miriam Rime – the bronze medal.

The team of UNWE won the first place in the ranking of higher schools and first place in the team ranking in group B at the National Student Olympiad in Mathematics (NSOM'2022). The National Student Olympiad in Mathematics which this year is under the patronage of the UNWE Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov was held at the Educational and Rehabilitation Facilities of UNWE in the village of Ravda. The Olympiad has been organized annually since 1974 and students in Bachelor's or Master's programmes from all universities compete in it. Its objective is to increase students' interest in mathematics and to create conditions for the exchange of experience among the teaching teams. The organization is implemented by the National Commission and the host university, this year the host is the UNWE.

The National Student Olympiad in Mathematics which this year is under the patronage of the UNWE Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov was held at the Educational and Rehabilitation Facilities of UNWE in the village of Ravda. At the opening of the Olympiad Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maya Mikrenska, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Head of the Department of Mathematics at UNWE welcomed the students and lecturers. "I am happy to see so many young people, it shows that you will have a good future, and the interest in Mathematics is a sign that you will be successful. I hope that with your participation in this Olympiad you will gain an even greater incentive to develop your own talents. I am happy to meet with my colleagues and your teachers from the various universities to share experiences and share problems". She reminded that since 2010 NSOM has been held with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science and a long-term sponsor is the Eureka Foundation which supports young people".

"In your faces I see the future leaders of the country, the very fact that you have succeeded in the field of mathematical sciences is a prerequisite to be leading personalities in the economic and political life of the country." Prof. Stoyanova wished the contestants to show their best abilities and the most prepared to win.

According to the Olympiad regulation, students are divided into three competition groups (A, B, C) in compliamce with the professional field of their speciality and the number of hours they study Mathematics. The three groups are: group A - mathematics, informatics and computer science, group B - natural and technical sciences, security and defense, group C - all others.
