Hristo is a keen mountaineer and he has prepared to climb Mount Elbrus for months. In the beginning of the summer he left for Turkey where the conditions for his final training were more appropriate. On 27 July he left for Russia with two Bulgarians to join the specially organized tourist group having an intention to climb Mount Elbrus. The group members were from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, USA, Romania and Bulgaria.

After two days of altitude acclimatization in the feet of Mount Elbrus the weather was favourable so on the night of 31 July at 2.00 a.m. Hristo and the group accompanied by local mountain guides began the climbing to Mount Elbrus. At 9.30 a.m., after seven hours of hard climbing, Hristo and the rest group members conquered successfully Mount Elbrus.
