Presentation of The Book European Economy by Prof. Dimitar Hadzhinikolov

A presentation of the book European Economy by Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Dimitar Hadzhinikolov was held at the European House in Sofia – the Representation of the European Commission and Information Office of the European Parliament in Bulgaria.

A short review of the new scientific work by Prof. Hadzhinikolov was made by the Vice Rector of UNWE Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milanka Slavova.  She outlined the modern aspects of the research published in the heat of the preparation for the six months presidency of Bulgaria in the EU Council (July – December 2018). Assoc. Prof. Slavova outlined also the role of the education in European issues for the successful participation of our country in the versatile integrating process.

At our university the speciality European Studies is already approved and students from the speciality International Economic Relations have a separate educational module in European issues, pointed out the Vice Rector. The European issues are also actively studied in the frameworks of the academic programme of many other specialities. The book by Prof. Hadzhinikolov is useful as for the students studying the European integration at the UNWE as for the ones from the other universities as well as for the experts from non-academic circles.

After the presentation there was an active discussion on the issues exposed in the book by Prof. Hadzhinikolov. Peter Natsev, adviser at the Information and Communication Department of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, emphasized on the necessity of more active participation in the public dialogue in European issues by the academic circles.

Georgy Shivarov, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association outlined the necessity of better comprehension in European economy and European administration for being avoided some negative effects of bureaucracy related to the European law application in our country. Prof. Ingrid Shishkova from the European Studies Department at Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia pointed out the need of wide discussion by the participation of academic circles for elaborating a position for the Bulgarian presidency at the EU Council.

Some actual questions about the various sectors of European economy and our integration were put for discussion by Assoc. Prof. Andrey Georgiev, Assoc. Prof. Tencho Tenevq Assoc. Prof. Marin Todorov, Dr. Yosif Avramov and other participants in the event.
