Meeting-Discussion with The Alpinist Ivan Kozhuharov: In A Battle for Real Results

In the Large Conference Hall of the university was held a meeting-discussion entitled In a Battle for Real Results. The guest lecturer was Ivan Kozhuharov, professional alpinist and financial manager. Organizers of the event were the Inter-University Center for Career Development (IUCCD) and the Center for Good Managerial Practices at Management Department. At the meeting attended Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yordan Bliznakov, Acting Director of IUCCD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Director of the Center for Good Managerial Practices, lecturers and students.

The unwritten motto for this meeting is related to the thought of the founder and first Rector of UNWE Prof. Stephan Bobchev: “The spirit makes the power”, emphasized at the opening of the event Assoc. Prof. Bliznakov who presented the guest.

Assoc. Prof. Stoyanova outlined that it had been the first event organized by the Center for Good Managerial Practices. I hope our joint work with the IUCCD will become a tradition and our cooperation will be fruitful, said the Director of the newly opened Center.

Chief Assistant Dr. Angel Marchev presented Kozhuharov as a person having successful financial career in Switzerland who over the last years had worked as motivational lecturer in large organizations. The lecturer itself outlined that his way in the field of economics had begun at the UNWE as he had graduated from our university.

“You are the people who will create values tomorrow. You are the fighters at the front line”, said to students Kozhuharov. He shared that all his life had been full of mountains, economics, sport and finance and no matter they had been so different they turned out to be quite close areas. He outlined that things should be done in a team at each level. Thus the personal goals can be protected because they become part of the common welfare.

“There is no guaranteed end in none of our works. We have prepared for three years to climb Mont Blanc. 40 people worked without rest, large financial resources were needed and after all that we depended on the weather. It is an evidence that often things don`t depend only on us”, commented the alpinist. “It is not necessary to measure the added value only by the money. There is such a value for me when I communicate with the people. When you are honest and implicated you create values in personal aspect. I feel enriched when I talk to my friends. It is the same as what the trader feels selling its goods successfully”, exposed his credo the lecturer.

After the introductory part of the meeting there was also shown a film about the Mont Blanc climbing which has won the Golden Devil award, Diblere 2011.

In the end of the event started a discussion which revealed the life of the alpinist more profoundly.

Kozhuharov is the first man in wheelchair who has climbed the Mont Blanc. It happened in 2009 when in a specially equipped sledge together with three friends he has succeeded to conquer the peak. In 1990 a bad accident in the Alps has devastated his life forever – he fell under an avalanche of tons of rock masses but he survived miraculously and since then he has been paralyzed.
