Meeting-Discussion on The Transport Development in The European Union and Bulgaria

A meeting-discussion of Georgy Pirinsky, deputy in the European Parliament and representative of Bulgaria in the Commission for Transport with lecturers, Doctoral students and undergraduates of speciality Economics of Transport was held at the university. At the event attended Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Hristo Pavanov, Director of the Center for Energy Business and Infrastructure and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hristina Nikolova, Deputy Director of the University Center for Sustainable Development.

During the meeting were discussed topics related to the transport development in the European Union and Bulgaria. In the conversations was emphasized on the implementation of transport policy and state strategies of transport sector development; opportunities for Bulgarian railway transport development in the context of Multiannual Financial Framework for the upcoming programme period; opportunities for financing and implementation of scientific researches in the framework of the programmes Shift to Rail and Horizon 2020 with the participation of members of the Economics of Transport Department.

During the meeting-discussion

The meeting objective was to identify some possible areas of cooperation in the field of transport and some areas where scientific researches could be worked out as well as determining the main issues of the railway transport development in our country.

Mr. Pirinsky suggested to be initiated public discussions with the participation of lecturers, Doctoral students and undergraduates of speciality Economics of Transport for presentation of independent expert assessments, researches and studies on the discussed topics.

There was also a discussion on the opportunities for conduction of internships for students of speciality Economics of Transport in the European Parliament.
