Our University Connects Students with Practical Experience through a New Partnership with Dr. Shterev Medical Complex

The UNWE and Dr. Shterev Medical Complex Ltd. have launched a long-term partnership. The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and the Executive Director of Dr. Shterev Medical Complex Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Todorov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov noted that the University has been consistently developing partnerships with leading employers in order to expand students’ career opportunities and strengthen the relation between the higher education and the professional practice. “Students should be supported every step of their way. Our responsibility is not only to provide them with a high-quality education, but also to help them make a successful transition into the professional world through active partnerships with businesses and institutions”.

The Executive Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Todorov emphasized that many members of the hospital’s management team are UNWE graduates, making the partnership a natural extension of the strong relationship between the two institutions. “As hospital healthcare continues to evolve, the shortage of qualified professionals becomes increasingly evident. Public attention is often focused on the lack of medical specialists, but ensuring a sufficient number of well-trained professionals in management and administration is an equally significant challenge. We hope that this partnership will attract motivated UNWE students and help us establish a truly effective model of collaboration.”

The Memorandum expands the opportunities for students’ practical training and career development by providing access to internships and meetings with representatives from Dr. Shterev Medical Complex. The agreement also provides for the participation of the Medical Complex’s experts as guest lecturers, the development of joint projects and initiatives and the involvement of UNWE lecturers as consultants and subject-matter experts. In addition, the University will provide educational and professional development opportunities for specialists from Dr. Shterev Medical Complex through its Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Todorov, Head of the Human Resources and Social Security Department, has been appointed as the Operational Coordinator for the implementation of the Memorandum on behalf of UNWE. On behalf of Dr. Shterev Medical Complex the Coordinator will be Nina Cherneva, Human Resources Manager at the Medical Complex and a Doctoral student at the UNWE Human Resources and Social Security Department. The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies.
