The main items on the Rectors’ agenda include the European Commission’s mid-term report review on the project’s progress, the financial sustainability of the alliance, and the implementation plan of the ENGAGE.EU Strategy 2035, adopted last autumn, together with its broader integration into the policies of the partner universities. The agenda also covers issues related to joint professorships and the academic identity of ENGAGE.EU, as well as other matters concerning the future development of the alliance.
The ENGAGE.EU International Advisory Board will meet in parallel with the Governing Board. The programme also includes joint panel discussions on key issues on the alliance’s agenda.

“We have invested considerable effort, and I am convinced that this will not simply be another meeting of the ENGAGE.EU Governing Board, but a meeting of Rectors of genuine strategic importance for the future of the alliance”, says Prof. Dimitrov. “Our ambition is to take important strategic decisions together — decisions which, for one reason or another, we have so far postponed, but which will make our European university alliance even more successful, more attractive to students and researchers, and more visible in shaping the next phase of European higher education and research policy. I believe that, when we look back in years to come, we will see that this Sofia meeting was a pivotal moment, one that came at exactly the right time in the alliance’s development.”
