UNWE Will Host the ENGAGE.EU International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Fair Innovation

Our university will host the International Scientific-Practical Conference on Building FAIR AI: Combating Algorithmic Bias for Inclusive Innovation in Europe, organized within the ENGAGE.EU Research Label 2025 initiative, which will take place in the period 5-7 February 2026.

The event will bring together Doctoral students and young researchers from various European universities in Sofia to discuss how the artificial intelligence affects the economy, society and institutions. The main focus of the Conference is on the fair and responsible use of AI technologies, innovation and trust in digital systems in the context of sustainable development.

Building Fair AI: Combatting Algorithmic Bias for Inclusive Innovation in Europe is organized by an international team of five Doctoral students and young researchers from universities that are partners in the ENGAGE.EU alliance. The main Coordinator of the initiative is Adrian Dinev /UNWE/, Doctoral student at Marketing and Strategic Planning Department. The organizing team also includes: Tsvetanka Paunova /UNWE/, Doctoral student at Private Law Studies Department, Miroslav Mihaylov /UNWE/, Doctoral student at Regional Development Department, Nohaila El Mouden Jaadoun /ESADE/Ramon Llull University, Spain/, and Bernard Al Osta /Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, France/. The team brings together expertise in the fields of marketing, law, regional development, management and artificial intelligence with a common focus on the fair and sustainable applications of AI in the economy and society.

The Programme includes thematic panels, discussions and working sessions focused on real-life cases and contemporary challenges related to the artificial intelligence, innovation and public policy. Presentations by the participating Doctoral students and young researchers are also included. The official opening of the Conference is on 6 February 2026.

Her Excellency Ms. Marie Dumoulin, Ambassador of France to Bulgaria, practitioners in the field of artificial intelligence from the AI Cluster Bulgaria organization, and many others have been invited to the official opening.

The Conference is part of UNWE's efforts to actively participate in the international academic cooperation and support young researchers within the European university alliance ENGAGE.EU.
