For the first year Doctoral students from the UNWE took part and presented their innovative projects in the Entrepreneurs in Science 2025 Programme of the Carol Knowledge Foundation.

The high requirements for scientific basis, impact on the environment and society, and the degree of readiness for implementation of entrepreneurial ideas gave an advantage to the young entrepreneurs from the Technical University, whose representatives traditionally participate in the Programme, but in the current year the interest and motivation of the representatives of the UNWE led to the final selection of significant projects with high potential for implementation.

The projects of the UNWE Doctoral students, which were further developed with the contribution of the Entrepreneurs in Science Programme, were as follows:

  • Expert Match Intelligent Platform – an intelligent platform for dynamic networking of multi-talented individuals and entrepreneurs, developed by Svetla Tsanova, Doctoral student and honorary lecturer at the UNWE Management Department;
  • Eat from the Sea and Help the Sea – a project developed by Ebru Durmusali, Doctoral student at the UNWE Economics of Trade Department;
  • Chocolate Museum in Svoge – a project by Yoana Rashkova, Doctoral student at the UNWE Industrial Business Department;
  • 3D Open Design – a project by Kuzo Donchev, Doctoral student at the UNWE International Relations Department.

The presentation of the innovative ideas provoked the interest of both the jury members and the other participants, who asked a number of questions and rewarded the presentations with applause.

As is the tradition, business angels and investors attended the competition. The special guests included investors from a future technology transfer fund, who greeted the participants and encouraged them to develop their projects so that they could be presented to various funds and secure financing for implementation.

The Bulgarian Angels Club honored two of the participants. Ivan Dikov, international trainer and coach, noted that although they were at different stages of readiness, each of the projects could be implemented in the foreseeable future and presented the awards to the winners – Svetla Tsenova, Doctoral student at the UNWE, author of the Expert Match Intelligent Platform project, and Teodor Ikov, Doctoral student at the Technical University, who presented the Academy for Personal Development. They received the book Angel: How to Invest in Tech Startups – Priceless Advice from an Angel Investor Who Turned $100 000 into $100 000 000.

The participation of the UNWE Doctoral students in the Program confirms our university not only as a school for a new generation of researchers but also as an incubator for entrepreneurs with ideas based on cutting-edge scientific achievements.
