The Rector of UNWE Signed Cooperation Agreement with the German Division of the Technology Giant ZGC

The 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Belt and Road Initiative /BRI/ was celebrated at a solemn event at the Hilton Hotel. Among the official guests of the Forum was the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov who signed a memorandum with the German branch of the technology giant ZGC and the Beijing Institute of Industrial Design and Research /BIDR/.

The agreement provides for the identification of academic opportunities for technological concentration in specific industries. Its Coordinator from our university is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikolay Krushkov, Director of Prof. Dr. Borislav Borisov Institute of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer at UNWE and Head of the UNWE Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Department.

Seventeen cooperation agreements between representatives of organizations from the non-governmental sector, universities and associations in Bulgaria and China were signed in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov and the Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Xiao Jie, H. E. Ms Dai Qingli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of People's Republic of China to the Republic of Bulgaria, representatives of educational institutions from Bulgaria and China and hundreds of guests.

During the ceremony the Rector of UNWE awarded to the Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov a Commemorative medal for his contribution to the inter-institutional cooperation and the support provided to the University.

In his greeting to the participants in the event Atanas Zafirov noted that Bulgaria has always been a bridge between the regions, cultures, and economic spaces. "We believe that the partnerships based on transparency, dialogue and mutual respect are the partnerships that will shape the future of our cooperation. By signing today's agreements we declare our readiness to build on all that has been achieved and to deepen the ties between the Bulgarian and Chinese people", said Zafirov. He reminded that in 2015 Bulgaria and China signed a memorandum to support the Belt and Road Initiative /BRI/ and added that today's event is “a step towards achieving progress and reciprocity in cooperation between the two countries".
