The students Lyubomira Ivanova, Alexandra Chakurova and Monika Solomerova won the National Mediation Competition organized by the Center for Disputes Resolution – Sofia which took place at the beginning of November.

Alexandra Chakurova won an individual award for the second place.

Within the competition, awards for excellent participation were also awarded to Vasilena Kostova, Veronika Angelova and Boyana Guzgunova.

The National Mediation Competition brought together students from leading universities in the country who for two days have taken on the roles of mediators, lawyers, and clients. In each round they had to demonstrate not only legal knowledge but also skills in active listening, empathy, negotiation, and creatively finding mutually beneficial solutions – key qualities for any successful mediator.

According to the coach Georgy Radanov, the success of our students is an evidence for their high level of academic and practical knowledge acquired during their semester studies at the UNWE Law Faculty. These achievements encourage the participation in student competitions, which leads to even more well-deserved recognition both nationally and internationally.

In recent years the mediation has gained particular importance and has been included in the curriculum of the Law Faculty. The interest in the subject grows and the UNWE continues to stand out as a prestigious place where it is taught.

The teams express their sincere gratitude for the support provided by the University represented by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Vice-Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miroslav Dimitrov, Dean of the Law Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gergana Boyanova, lecturer, and Dr. Yulia Radanova.
