Investing in climate action is the way to achieve economic growth in the 21st century. But how to find sustainable solutions to protect the climate and natural resources so that we can achieve economic prosperity. The answer to this and many other questions that he discusses in his book, Renat Heiberger presented to the audience in a detailed presentation. He pointed out that the main idea behind the carbon credits, which are a tool to scale up the climate action and provide additional benefits to local communities, is to get money to reduce the carbon emissions through sustainable projects, to pay a price if you continue to pollute. The author examined the evolution of carbon credit markets in historical terms, pointing out that for almost three decades, the scientists, entrepreneurs and regulators have been working to develop these markets, and while many of them saw a rapid growth at first, they soon collapsed just as dramatically. In his book, the author seeks an answer to the question of why this happened and whether carbon credits will grow again? According to him, the answer is to understand the main paradoxes of the carbon credit system and find the courage to address them. Therefore, in his book The Carbon Paradox, he examines the complex interrelations between the economics, politics and effective climate action, challenging the traditional approach and arguing that true sustainability is achieved not only through policies but also through leadership, innovation and individual responsibility.

Renat Heuberger's presentation aroused great interest among students and lecturers in the hall and turned into a discussion on the actual topics of sustainable development.
