Delegation from the UNWE Participated in the Admission of a New Member and the Presentation of the ENGAGE.EU Strategy 2035 in Toulouse

Delegation from the UNWE, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, took part in the Fifth Annual Conference of the ENGAGE.EU Alliance of European Universities. The three-day event was held at Toulouse Capitole University in France from October 22 to 24, 2025.

There were two main highlights during the Conference: the official acceptance of the tenth university into the Alliance as an associate partner – St. Gallen University from Switzerland – and the ENGAGE.EU Strategy for the coming decade.

St. Gallen University becomes part of ENGAGE.EU Alliance in which the UNWE has been a member since its foundation in 2020. The most developed areas in it are business administration, economics, law, international relations and computer sciences.

The UNWE was a key participant in the preparation of the ENGAGE.EU Strategy until 2035 which envisages an ever stronger integration of its members into a common system focused on joint learning, research and social influence.

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dimitrov said: "We are all happy that our European academic family is growing. At the beginning of the Alliance there were seven universities, after that the agreements for accession of the UNWE partners from Finland and Spain were signed at our university, and now we have ten institutions in the ENGAGE.EU Alliance. With the adopted Strategy we have a clear plan with high goals for the next decade. I am glad that the UNWE has such an important role in the strategy and management of the European Alliance and that we are one of the respected founding universities. The work of the UNWE representatives on the Strategy and all other working packages was highly appreciated by the Coordinating University of Mannheim.

The UNWE Delegation included also Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Venelin Boshnakov, Assoc. Prof. D.Sc. Michael Musov, Coordinator of ENGAGE.EU for UNWE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kostadin Kolarov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Milev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Nikolova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elena Simeonova, Chief Assist. Dr. Yuri Tsenkov, Chief Assist. Dr. Ivan Valchanov, Chief Assist. Dr. Christian Zhelev, Chief Assist. Dr. Maria Dimitrova, Assist. Dr. Milen Markov, Daniel Zhelyazkov, Co-Chairman of the Student Board, and Mrs. Maria Goncheva, representative of Sofia Municipality (Associate Partner of the Alliance). They took part in the working sessions devoted mainly to the better collaboration between the universities, the establishment of joint programmes, microcrediting, the development of joint scientific projects and research, the sharing of ideas for initiatives aimed at society, sessions between the communication package managed by the UNWE and the other work packages, as well as in the discussion on the social impact of the ENGAGE.EU activities.
