Cooperation Agreement between Our University and the Association of Bulgarians in Northern Greece

A cooperation agreement was signed between the UNWE, Bulgaria Society and St. Ivan Rilsky Bulgarian Sunday School in Kavala, Greece, which sets the beginning of a new partnership in the name of education and the Bulgarian community abroad.

The document was signed by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Chairwoman of Bulgaria Society Anelia Hristova and Dr. Stanka Koleva, Chairwoman of St. Ivan Rilsky Bulgarian Sunday School in Kavala and Drama, Greece /in the picture below, from the left to the right/.

The Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov awarded the UNWE medal to Dr. Stanka Koleva for the efforts of teachers, parents and all children who keep the Bulgarian spirit alive outside their homeland. "The UNWE supports such initiatives and we hope to cooperate in the future. We look forward to seeing your children as our students", said Prof. Dimitrov.

"For me, the UNWE is my home and I will always be my university. This opportunity is a bridge between Bulgaria and our children abroad", said Dr. Koleva.

The event was honoured and supported by the Deputy Mayor of Kavala Apostolos Moutsakis and by the President of Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yancho Yanev.

Bulgaria Society is an association of Bulgarians in Northern Greece, whose objective is to promote, support and work to keep the Bulgarian national identity and culture. The organization has established four schools and two branches in the region which operate under the Ministry of Education and Science's programme for native language and culture abroad.
