Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, Chairman of the National StatisticaI Institute, Presented the Experience of Bulgarian Statistics at the 65th World Statistics Congress
The Chairman of the National Statistical Institute /NSI/ and lecturer at the UNWE Statistics and Econometrics Department Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov participated in the 65th World Statistics Congress which took place in early October 2025 in Hague, Netherlands.
On the first day of the Congress Assoc. Prof. Atanasov presented the experience and good practices of the NSI in applying the principles set out in the European Statistics Code of Practice during a session dedicated to the transformation of the national statistical systems.

At the same time Hague hosted the General Assembly of the International Statistical Institute /ISI/, part of which is also the NSI as an institutional member.
The World Statistics Congress is a leading global event for statistics and data science. It is organized by the ISI and held every two years. This year, the meeting brought together over 1 500 statisticians and specialists from academia, official statistics, the private sector, central banks, statistical associations, and others. The scientific programmme included more than 250 sessions, workshops, and short courses designed to present to the participants the latest trends in statistics. The focus was on the power of collaboration and innovation within the global statistical community which was also emphasized in the opening speech by ISI President Xuming He.
