Two new institutes will be opened within the structure of the University of National and World Economy – the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Economics and the Institute for Enhancing Research Capacity in the Field of Nuclear Industry and Nuclear Security. This was decided by the Council of Ministers at the request from the University.

The main motive for establishing the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Economics /IAIE/ is that the artificial intelligence becomes a key driver of economic growth, innovation, and competitive advantage. The Institute will combine the expertise from the fields of economics, computer science, business, and social sciences. It will develop innovative solutions to the challenges of the modern world - from the automation of financial processes to the prediction of economic crises and the optimization of business strategies. The Institute will include laboratories for machine learning, big data, and economic modeling; a technology transfer center for connecting the science, business, and public administration; and an educational hub providing courses and short-term training and certification programmes for students and professionals.

The other new unit at UNWE is the Institute for Enhancing Research Capacity in the Nuclear Industry and Nuclear Security, which will build on the activities of the existing Nuclear Security Support Center. It will provide an institutional platform for conducting specialized training and international seminars and will develop policies and regulatory instruments in the field of nuclear security. The Institute will cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency, the European Commission, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and other international partners.
