Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov noted that he has a sentiment towards the Netherlands because his first specialization had been in Groningen and then his first email address had been opened. "Artificial Intelligence /AI/ is no longer just a modern word, it has the potential to tackle with some of the biggest challenges in education today, such as bringing the innovation to teaching and learning. In the field of modern teaching the AI becomes a key tool that provides a new perspective. The AI turns also into a powerful catalyst for economic and social changes. It has already begun to transform the existing professions. Young people have to be aware of these processes and studying the innovative information technologies not only prepares them for the futur, but gives them the skills and knowledge necessary for them. These competences are essential for the successful integration into the global labour market. That`s why it is good to encourage the students to use AI but not to do their job, only to help them be better in their studies", pointed out the Rector.
The Chairman of the Dutch Bulgarian Business Association /DBBA/ Edward Simelink expressed thankfulness to Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov for the cooperation in organizing the Forum.
"In a world changing so fast, it is important to share knowledge and exchange ideas to make the world better, to create a better future for young people. For the purpose last year in Sofia Tech Park we held a Forum on the Future of Bulgaria through the Eyes of the Young Generation. That`s why the focus of the Dutch-Bulgarian Business Association is on building partnerships and sharing knowledge", said Edward Simelink and added that according to an article he read, the Netherlands is currently ranked at the first place in the world in the use of AI and could help Bulgaria by sharing experiences and best practices in its use not only in education, but also in many other areas of life.
The thematic areas of the Forum included the following topics: how the AI transforms the education and business, the professions of the future and the necessary skills, strategies for retraining the workforce, practical applications of AI in various industries and how Bulgaria could become a regional AI leader.
