Lecturers from the UNWE Met with the Oscar Winner Jon Voight
At the end of the last year lecturers from the UNWE Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Department and Prof. Dr. Borislav Borisov Institute of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer got an unexpected opportunity to meet the famous actor John Voight, winner of the Academy Award /Oscar/ for the film Homecoming /1978/, directed by Hal Ashby, where his partner was Jane Fonda.
The meeting took place at the Grand Hotel Sofia, before the US presidential elections, and Jon Voight agreed to a short conversation and a photo.
An interesting detail of the conversation was the actor's confidence that "the future President Donald Trump will give impetus to the American film industry in the tradition of American culture". In the first days after taking office the US President appointed John Voight as one of three special presidential ambassadors responsible for "restoring the greatness of Hollywood". The other two ambassadors are Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone.
The younger generation knows Jon Voight as Angelina Jolie's father, but he is so much more than that. His extensive filmography, in addition to the movie Homecoming, includes such titles as Deliverance, The Champ, Runaway Train, Heat, The Shot, Reverse Turn, Pearl Harbor, Ali, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. The actor has an outstanding academic background, Bachelor's and Master's degree in Arts and Cinema, and even at 85 years old, he has not slowed down the pace at which he works. For 2024 Voight has made five films in our country.
