Prof. Dr. Manol Ribov Was Awarded the Golden Rose Honorary Statuette for His Overall Contribution to the Tourism
At an official ceremony the Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev awarded to Prof. Dr. Manol Ribov the honorary statuette Golden Rose for his overall contribution to the tourism. The Minister honored ten eminent personalities whose achievements have contributed to form the image of modern Bulgarian tourism. The Golden Rose Award, a symbol of dedication and merits to the Tourism Sector, was also conferred on pioneers, visionaries and academics who have contributed to the development of the Tourism Sector in Bulgaria.

Prof. Dr. Manol Ribov, who celebrated his 90th anniversary last year, is the doyen of the UNWE Economics of Tourism Department, he has been Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Head of the Problem Research Laboratory and the Inter-University Center for Quality Management. He is the founder of the first Doctoral Degree School in our country, founder and Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber for Education, Science and Culture, holder of the Order of Saints Cyril and Methodius. He has won the CIELA Award for Author's Contribution to the Economic Literature.
In his video address on the occasion of the award Prof. Ribov drew attention to the modern world problems. "We live in turbulent times, marked by the overlapping of pandemic, military, energy, economic and environmental crises. Overcoming them requires a comprehensive and coordinated approach to manage and minimize their consequences. Limiting the impact of these crises is related to the urgent necessity to address issues related to automation and robotics, the application of artificial intelligence, the green transition, social transformation, seen in the context of sustainable tourism development."

Among the personalities awarded with the honorary statuette were Georgy Kochov, Georgy Pamporov, Gulub Cherpokov, Ivan Ivanov, Prof. Dr. Ivan Markov, Prof. Dr. Marin Neshkov, Prof. Dr. Maria Vodenska, Prof. Dr. Nikolina Popova and Prof. Dr. Svetla Rakadzhiyska. Their contribution covers various aspects of the tourism - from research and education to strategic management and promotion of the Bulgarian tourism product at home and abroad.
