The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov welcomed a delegation from the Republic of Ghana, headed by the Rector of Radford University College Dr. Martin Luther Obeng. The official meeting was attended by the Vice Rector for International Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov and the President of the Bulgarian-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the meeting were discussed the opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education and the implementation of dual Bachelor`s and Master`s degree programmes in English. The successful programmes of the UNWE with the Shanghai Zhao Tong University in China and with the University of International Studies in Rome, Italy, were mentioned as examples. In this regard, it was proposed that the Bachelor`s degree programmes could be structured on the principle "two years in Bulgaria and two years in Ghana". Specialities related to the economics, finance and accounting and international relations were identified as priorities for the joint educational initiatives and the basis for future cooperation. These areas combine the strengths of both universities and provide excellent career opportunities for graduates.

Regarding the Master's degree programmes it was discussed the option of a two-year study - one year in Bulgaria and one year in Ghana. The idea was met with interest from the Ghanaian side and it was outlined the advantage of such cooperation for the international academic mobility and professional development of students from both countries.

Both sides expressed confidence that such programmes would deepen the academic exchanges and enable students to gain international experience and knowledge in today's global economy. The signing of a memorandum of cooperation is expected once the details of the organization and content of the programmes have been finalized.

The Ghanaian delegation expressed its great desire for cooperation with the most prestigious economic university in Bulgaria – the UNWE which has an accreditation assessment of 9.8 - the highest one in the country. The UNWE managing Body emphasized its commitment to expanding the international partner networks and establishing the University as a globally recognized educational institution.

The meeting ended with mutual contentment and ambition for future joint projects that will contribute to the development of education and the strengthening of academic relations between Bulgaria and Ghana.
