XIX International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists on the Economy of Bulgaria and the European Union: Challenges, Conflicts, Solutions
The International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists on the Economy of Bulgaria and the European Union: Challenges, Conflicts, Solutions" was held for the 19th time at the UNWE. It was organized by the Finance and Accounting Faculty under the patronage of the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov. The Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova opened the Conference and greeted the organizers and participants on behalf of the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov.
"It is an extremely important and prestigious Forum not only for our university but also for our partners in Bulgaria and abroad. This conference has become an important place where young scientists present their innovative solutions, their views and thoughts related to the economy of Bulgaria and the European Union. Not only young people but also established scientists will take part in the Forum, a total of 150 papers have been submitted - an increasing number compared to previous years", said Prof. Dr. Alexandrova.
Prof. Dr. Maria Vodenicharova, Vice-Rector for Research, and Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of UNWE also joined the wishes for fruitful work of the participants in the International Forum.
"Young people are highly educated and ambitious so we expect interesting reports from them, as the challenges are many, we hope the young scientists will suggest solutions. At the Scientific Conference there are representatives from Bulgarian universities and six foreign universities, which are co-organizers of the Forum for a consecutive time", said the Dean of the Finance and Accounting Faculty Prof. Dr. Rumen Brussarski.
"It is the first Scientific Conference dedicated to young scientists which can proudly be called a trademark of UNWE and Finance and Accounting Faculty. The founder of the International Conference is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Grigorii Vazov - Dean of the Finance and Accounting Faculty of UNWE in the period 1998 - 2010, founder and first Rector of the University of Insurance and Finance /VUZF/ which is partner of the Conference for the 12th time. And for the first time partners of this edition this year are the Faculty of Economics of St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia, the Union of Economists in Bulgaria, the Student Council at UNWE and the Association of Lecturers in Economics and in the Industry", explained Prof. Dr. Silvia Trifonova, Vice Dean for Research of the Finance and Accounting Faculty and moderator of the event.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Grigorii Vazov, founder of the Conference and Rector Emeritus of VUZF, emphasized in his speech on "the great scientific collegial nobility that the UNWE shows in the organization of the Inter-University Forum", and Assoc. Prof. Dr. James Jolovski, Vice-Rector for Research of VUZF, welcomed the participants on behalf of the Rector of VUZF Prof. Boris Velchev.
Prof. Dr. Nadia Velinova-Sokolova from the Faculty of Economics of St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia expressed thankfulness for the valuable relations, contacts and cooperation that are being established between the economic universities in Bulgaria and greeted and wishes for fruitful discussions from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty.
The Chairman of the Student Council Ilian Chabukliisyi who is also a co-organizerof the event, said on behalf of the young people:”Our role is not only to provide scientific analysis, but also to give ideas. And I hope this forum will give birth to many ideas and right solutions".
As a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science the Director of the Higher Education Directorate Rositsa Koleva was present and read a Congratulatory Address from Prof. Galin Tsokov, Minister of Education, is emphasized on the great importance of the Collection from the International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists indexed in the Central and Eastern European Online Library /CEEOL/. The scientific results of the previous 18 International Scientific Conferences are published in it, as will also be the papers from current one.
Congratulatory addresses and wishes for successful work to the organizers and participants in the Conference were received from all universities in the country, where Economics and Finance are studied, from the Deans of Faculties at UNWE, as well as from the economic and financial structures, such as the Bulgarian National Bank, from the commercial banks, such as TBI Bank, Bulgarian Stock Exchange - Sofia AD, commercial companies and others.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manyu Moravenov, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange - Sofia AD, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Atanasov, Chairman of the National Statistical Institute, in addition to greetings also participated with reports in the first scientific session, respectively on the Bulgarian Capital Market - Challenges and Prospects and on the Statistics as a Fundamental Element for Membership in Regional and International Organizations.
"The joint work between the Finance and Accounting Faculty of UNWE and these prestigious academic and scientific institutions in organizing the International Conference of Young Scientists is an important prerequisite for the development of fruitful inter-university and institutional cooperation. The fact that many students studying in Bachelor`s and Master`s degree also participate in the Conference prooves the significance of the event. The students participate in the Conference sessions and discussions with distinguished lecturers, scientists and business representatives", said Prof. Dr. Sylvia Trifonova, the main organizer of the International Forum from the very beginning.
The thematic areas of the two-day Conference are:
- Financial policy, financial markets, banking, investments, insurance and social security;
- Accounting policy and practice, accounting standards, financial auditing, control systems and internal control;
- Research and science, research and development, science-business, innovation, competitiveness, project management;
- Entrepreneurship, management, marketing, corporate control and business development in Bulgaria, in the EU and globally.
The Nineteenth International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists on the Economy of Bulgaria and the European Union: Challenges, Conflicts, Solutions is held within two days - 7 - 8 November 2024. It includes 2 plenary scientific sessions and 9 conference scientific sessions for work in sections. The participation in the Conference is in a hybrid format - in person at the UNWE in three conference halls - Large Conference Hall, Small Conference Hall and Faculty Hall 2028A, and online in the electronic platform MS Teams.
In the framework of the Nineteenth International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists, a Scientific Workshop on the Guidelines for Publishing in Reputable Scientific Journals is planned on 7 November 2024 organized by Az-Buki National Publishing House for Education and Science.
Plenary speaker of the Conference is Prof. Petko S. Kalev, Emeritus Professor of Finance at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, who is an expert in Behavioural Finance, Empirical Asset Pricing, Capital Markets and Market Microstructure whose research has been published in respected and influential academic journals.
This year the Conference is attended by a record number of participants - more than 150 young scientists from almost all universities in the country - St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia University, the University of Insurance and Finance /VUZF/, Neofit Rilsky Southwestern University - Blagoevgrad, University of Economics - Varna, Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov University of Burgas, Paisii Hilendarsky University of Plovdiv, New Bulgarian University, Aleksandër Xhuvani University of Elbasan, Albania, the Higher School of Management - Sofia, the Military Medical Academy /MMA/, from the financial and economic practice, the Bulgarian National Bank /BNB/, from the commercial banks such as TBI Bank, Bulgarian Stock Exchange – Sofia AD, commercial companies, and of course, most of all from the UNWE, including foreign students implementing mobility under the Erasmus+ Programme in Bulgaria.
Representatives from 6 foreign universities, which are co-organizers of the forum for a consecutive time also participate in the Forum. They are from the University of. Bologna, Italy, the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the University of Split, Croatia, Poltava University of Economics and Trade, Ukraine, Lutsk National Technical University, Ukraine, from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Rijeka, Croatia and Ss. Cyril and Methodius State University of Economics, Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia.
