UNWE Team Visited Vienna for the Fourth Annual ENGAGE.EU Alliance Conference

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Vice-Rector for Educational Activitiy, the Vice-Rector for Research, the Vice-Rector for International Affairs and a team of key participants in the European University ENGAGE.EU from the UNWE visited Vienna University of Economics and Business /WU/ for the Fourth Annual ENGAGE.EU Alliance Conference. It is the largest ENGAGE.EU presence event where key decisions are made on future initiatives and directions for development.

During the official opening of the Conference a video address by the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova was broadcast. In it she noted the importance of the alliances such as ENGAGE.EU and specifically highlighted the key role of the UNWE in the current initiative.

Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov announced that the next ENGAGE.EU Summer School in 2025 will be held in Bulgaria at the end of June and the beginning of July. The theme will be Designing European Sustainable Futures.

Part of the Conference was also the official presentation of the tenth partner university in the ENGAGE.EU Alliance – the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. All partners signed the agreement for the Swiss university to join.

In the working sessions on the main pillars of the project - education, science and social impact, as well as on the communication package coordinated by the UNWE, participate the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova, the Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Dr. Maria Vodenicharova, the Vice-Rector for International Affairs Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov, the ENAGAGE.EU Institutional Coordiantor Assoc. Prof. D.Sc. Michail Musov, the Dean of the Applied Informatics and Statistics Faculty Prof. Dr. Venelin Boshnakov, the Dean of the International Economics and Politics Faculty Assoc, Prof. Dr. Svetla Boneva, Prof. Dr. Hristo Katrandzhiev, Head of the Marketing and Strategic Planning Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kostadin Kolarov, Head of the Entrepreneurship Department, Chief Assist. Dr. Yuri Tsenkov, Chief Assist. Dr. Violeta Toncheva-Zlatkova, Chief Assist. Dr. Ivan Valchanov, Assist. Dr. Venko Andonov. The team was joined by Maria Goncheva - representative of Sofia Municipality and representative of the associated partners of the project. The students of UNWE were represented by Maria Karapetrova and Daniel Zhelyazkov.

On 1 November 2024 the second year of the initiative begins and it includes a number of opportunities for the students, researchers and administrative staff of UNWE. During the closing ceremony it was announced that the Fifth Annual Conference in 2025 will be in Toulouse, France.
