Working Meeting between the Rector and the Minister of Foreign Affairs

A working meeting between Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, Rector of UNWE, and Ivan Kondov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Vice Rector for International Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov also took part in the meeting.

Both parties confirmed their intentions written in the Memorandum 2023 to work together by informing students about the internships and public events organized by the Ministry. It was pointed out that the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UNWE has a long history.

Minister Kondov explained the consistent policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide for Bulgarian students the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop professionally. He shared his views on achieving the common objectives by organizing joint activities, conducting internships, involving students in supporting international events hosted by our country, etc.

Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov presented to Minister Kondov the successful programmes of UNWE for cooperation with foreign higher education institutions, especially those from the Asian region - a rapidly developing region interested in promoting the establishment of dual programmes with Bulgarian higher education institutions in order to improve the quality of education through active academic exchange of students and lecturers.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov outlined the international initiatives in which the University participates and which it initiates.

The UNWE and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will intensify the exchange of information on activities related to the organization of important events of interest to both countries. The participation of representatives of the Ministry in public events for students, such as lectures, seminars, conferences, meetings and other events organized by the University will be ensured. In parallel, opportunities will be created for lecturers and other UNWE representatives to participate in meetings, lectures, reviews, consultations, statistical and other studies and events organized by the Ministry.

The Rector extended an official invitation to the Minister to take part in one of UNWE's future international events by delivering a lecture. Minister Kondov greeted Prof. Dimitrov for the active policy of internationalization and for positioning the University on the international stage of higher education.
