Ninth International Conference of Young Scientists

Ninth International Conference of Young Scientists on the Bulgarian Economy in Changing Political, Social and Economic Environment was held at the university. The event was organized by the Finance and Accountancy Faculty of UNWE and the VUZF University (University of Insurance and Finance). It was under the patronage of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Bobeva, Deputy Prime Minister on Economic Development of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The interest to the Forum of Young Scientists is very large since its first edition, outlined at the opening of the Conference Prof. Dr. Snezhana Basheva, Dean of the Finance and Accountancy Faculty and Chairman of the Conference Programme Committee. She pointed out the differences in the editions of the Conference so far and highlighted the participation of undergraduates and Doctoral students, as well as the record number of reports - over 100. Prof. Dr. Snezhana Basheva also outlined that for the first time it would be determined and distinguished the most interesting report on the scientific issue done by non-full tenure person.

Prof. Dr. Veselka Pavlova, Vice Rector of the university welcomed the participants in the Conference and read a greeting address by the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev. The scientific event is held only two days after the bright holiday of Bulgarian National Leaders so let`s be worthy followers of them, was pointed out in the greeting address by the Rector. In it was also emphasized on the fact that the Conference was a good sign for the scientific thought development. Young people can always count on our support, was outlined by Prof. Stattev.

Prof. Pavlova highlighted the useful longstanding partnership with the VUZF University and said that the Conference had overcome the limits of faculty event and had become an inter-university one. She wished the participants successful work with new visions and effective scientific disputes.

During the Conference

Nine years ago the Conference was arose from the need of young people to express themselves in the scientific field, pointed out Assoc. Prof. Dr. Grigorii Vazov, Rector of VUZF University and Co-Chairman of the Programme Committee. He said explicitly that the Conference had been a brand of UNWE and that the plenary reports had combined a unique professionalism and had become a standard for the young scientists.

Greetings to the participants in the Conference were also made by Viktor Trifonov, Chief Secretary of the Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors and by Hristo Slavkov, Manager of the United Editors Office for Books and Periodicals “Thought” and publisher of the magazine Accountancy Plus Taxes, Social Relationships.

An introductory plenary report was delivered by Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Ivan Dushanov, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Economic Academy of Svishtov. His topic was: Glimpses on a Concept of Legal Regulation for the Status of the Head of the Company Accounting System in Bulgaria.  Effective Methods of Fight for Corporative Frauds was the topic of the report by Yordan Karabinov, Chairman of the Institute of Internal Auditors of the Republic of Bulgaria. Boyko Kostov, Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants spoke on the Expected Changes in the Bulgarian Accounting Legislation in Relation to the Requirements of the New Directive for the Financial Reports.

The sessions of the Conference were organized in three panels: 1. Financial Policy, Financial Markets, Banking, Investments, Insurance and Social Security; 2. Accounting Policy and Practice, Accounting Standards, Financial Audit, Controlling Systems and Internal Control; 3. Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Corporative Control and Business Development in Bulgaria and EU.
