Training of American Students at Our University

It was officially opened one week training of American students on Public Administration at our university. It is implemented on the base of the Memorandum for Cooperation between the UNWE and the Florida International University in Miami signed in 2012 to encourage the international academic and scientific exchange. Within the frameworks of a partnership between both universities and by the proposal of the Public Administration and Regional Development Department was organized also the training of the American students. At the opening of the event attended Prof. Dr. Veselka Pavlova, Vice Rector of UNWE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galina Mladenova, Vice Dean on Academic Affairs of the Management and Administration Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hristo Hristov, Head of the Public Administration and Regional Development Department as well as the lecturers on the programme Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Head of the National and Regional Security, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova from the Management Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetla Boneva from the International Economic Relations Department and many others. A special guest of the event was Prof. Allan Rosenbaum, Director of the Institute of Public Management and Community Services and Professor on Public Administration at the Florida International University in Miami.

Our university has a certain policy to encourage the international exchange and the Memorandum between the UNWE and the Florida International University is an example for it, outlined at the opening of the meeting Prof. Dr. Veselka Pavlova, Vice Rector on Education in the EQD of Master and Distance Learning. She greeted the participants on behalf of the Rector of the university Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev and wished the American students success in the implementation of the programme which would be focused on the issues of the democratic transition in Bulgaria, public policies and administrative reform.

“Welcome to Bulgaria, Sofia and the best university in our country”, greeted the American students Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polia Katsamunska from the Public Administration and Regional Development Department. “I am glad that you are among us and thank the people who made this meeting possible – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polia Katsamunska and Prof. Allan Rosenbaum”, pointed out Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galina Mladenova, Vice Dean on Academic Affairs of the Management and Administration Faculty. She outlined that the Faculty was among the leading ones at the UNWE, the most desired by students and most sought after by the business.

On behalf of the Public Administration and Regional Development Department the students were greeted by Prof. Dr. Hristo Hristov, Head of the Department. He emphasized on the 25 years history of the Department and the number of students educated at it – annually about 1300 ones. Let these seven days at our university and country stay unforgettable for you, wished the American students Prof. Hristov.

Thank you for the partnership and for this important meeting, said Prof. Allan Rosenbaum who introduced his colleagues from the Florida International University in Miami and the 15 students in Master`s degree who would be trained at out university. I believe we will have very exciting week here and I hope students from the UNWE will also come to our university.
