General Assembly Gave Positive Assessment for Work of The Rectors Management Body
The General Assembly – the highest collective body for university management – gathered together at the Maxima Aula its delegates – lecturers, students, doctoral students and employees as well as former Rectors, eminent scientists, guests.

There is a reason to say proudly again that the UNWE is the most prestigious Bulgarian university, pointed out in his statement on the report of Rectors Management Body Prof. D. Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of UNWE. The report was printed in a special book and handed out to the delegates in advance. The Rector featured the most important moments of the university activity during the period December 2011 – December 2012. “They deserve to be emphasized because they trace also our future”, pointed out the Rector. At first Prof. Stattev outlined that the UNWE was again a leader in the Bulgarian higher education. After 2006 when the university obtained the highest institutional assessment among all Bulgarian universities from the National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation recently it was ranked again as №1 for the next six years by accreditation rating of 9, 65. Let`s observe the tradition and in 2018 confirm our leadership from this tribune again, wished the Rector.

Among the success of university during the reported period the Rector outlined the new five specialities for Bachelor`s degree by education in the English language, the increase in capacity of the speciality Law and opening of the speciality Media and Economics. The graduation of the first alumni of Bachelors of Science at the Regional Center for Distance Learning – Haskovo coincided with the opening of distance form of education in Sofia and in 2013 would be started also the Regional Center for Distance Learning in Plovdiv. Prof. Stattev pointed out that the admission of outside candidates for Master`s degree has marked a growth of 1, 5 in comparison with the previous year. He paid attention to the inter-faculty, inter-departmental and departmental Masters programmes as well as to the Joint Programme with Nottingham Trent University, UK and the new joint Master`s degree on International Business and Management with the same university which would start next year.

Prof. Sttatev pointed out the achievements in the scientific research activity and forming of orderly, clear and transparent system for academic growth at the university. “We, at the UNWE support our colleagues and their professional development”, pointed out the Rector. A new website and domain, more examinations in electronic format, admission for Master`s degree by e-test, e-library – those were part of the results pointed out by the Rector as completed activities during the reported period. It has been also envisaged a repair of the outdoor equipment of the Bonsist Sports Complex, widening of the main building fund of the university, etc.
“Tremendous personal thankfulness to each member of university for the efforts put in the rising of authority of UNWE” addressed Prof. Sttatev to the attendants. “Each of you here is an approved personality as well as in the science as also in the practice”, outlined the Rector.

The General Assembly accepted the report of the Rectors Management Body and Control Council by high assessment and voted some alterations in the Rules for the UNWE Activity and also accepted new Rules for the Control Council Activity. The general assembly was presided at its Chairman Prof. Dr. Stoian Stoianov.
Prof. Dr. Margarita Atanasova was elected as a Second Deputy Chairwoman of the General Assembly of UNWE.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marcho Markov was elected as a member of the Academic Council by the quota of full-tenure lecturers.
