Prof. Dr. Polya Katsamunska from the Public Administration Department participated in an expert group of the International Commission on Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training Programmes – ICAPA for the accreditation of Master's degree programmes of Fairleigh Dickinson University /FDU/ in New Jersey, USA and Vancouver, Canada.

Fairleigh Dickinson University /FDU/ is a university center of academic excellence with a mission to prepare world citizens through global education. The University was founded in 1942 and today is the largest private university in New Jersey, USA, training more than 11 000 students from 32 states and 72 countries. The University has four campuses, two of which are located within the state of New Jersey, USA - Metropolitan /Teaneck/ campus and Madison campus, and the other two are outside the USA. Fairleigh Dickinson University /FDU/ is the first American university having campuses in England /Wroxton College/ and in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada /FDU Vancouver/.

The Fairleigh Dickinson University /FDU/ structure includes nine schools and colleges that provide nationally recognized academic programmes with opportunities for practical internships in numerous public and business organizations. The School of Public and Global Affairs is one of the main units in the university structure, which provides education in full-time, distance, combined and accelerated form of study. According to the rules, the procedure for obtaining accreditation by the International Commission requires an on-site visit by a panel of experts. The panel of experts appointed by the ICAPA to evaluate the Master`s degree programmes in Public Administration provided by the School of Public and Global Affairs included lecturers and experts in public administration from the United States, Bulgaria, and Lebanon. The expert group comprising Dr. Rachel Emas /George Washigton University, USA/, Prof. Polya Katsamunska /UNWE, BG/ and Prof. Georges Labaki /Notre Dame University-Louaize, Beirut, Lebanon/ visited the campuses of Fairleigh Dickinson University /FDU/ in New Jersey, USA and Vancouver, Canada in the period 1 - 5 April 2024.

The Expert Committee's programme included a series of workshops with the Fairleigh Dickinson University /FDU/ leadership and Trustees Board, students and alumni, lecturers and administrators, users and partners of the School of Public and Global Affairs at FDU as well as visits to the University Library and other off-campus learning centers.
