Students from the Law Faculty Took Part in a Global Competition in International Commercial Arbitration

For the fourth time students from the Law Faculty took part in Willem C. Vis World Competition in International Commercial Arbitration, held annually in Vienna, Austria.

Elina Kostadinova, Dalia Davidkova, Gabriela Nikolova. IV course studnets and Radoslav Krystanov, V course student, with coaches Att. /Law/ Staniela Todorova, Att. /Law/ Simeon Stoychev and Att. /Law/ Nikola Naydenov, competed with 370 teams from 90 countries in the 31st edition of the Competition.

For six months the participants developed the procedural and substantive aspects of a specific international commercial dispute in English.

In the first part of the Competition the students prepare the written defenses of the claimant and the defendant. In the second part, they compete in individual clashes of verbal pleading against other teams before a tribunal of three arbitrators. In the course of the competition, students from the UNWE faced off against universities from Italy, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, the United States, Germany and Finland.

At the finish of the Competition

"After half a year of focused work and participation in the Competition we developed practical skills indispensable in the work of every lawyer. We are able to defend our client's position convincingly and argumentatively in a dynamic environment, gaining the trust of the bystander as well as refute the opposing side's theses through critical and analytical thinking", said the participants in the Competition.

They express their immense gratitude to the three coaches for their guidance, dedicated work, support and motivation in the preparatory phase of the Competition.
