Over the last five years the University for National and World Economy has intensified its participation in the international scientific networks /so-called "bone shares"/ within the framework of the COST Programme. These international networks involve universities and research institutions from the European Union, non-European countries and associated partners - international organizations carrying out analytical activities in various areas of public interest. The major part of the funding for the network participants is provided through a follow-on project application under the annual calls of the Bulgarian National Science Fund /BNSF/ and the costs for the annual meetings of the steering committees of the networks are covered by the COST Programme within each respective share.

The main objective of the Programme is networking with the aim of broad cooperation between the participating higher education institutions, including the promotion of existing and subsequent development of new scientific publications, the publication of joint textbooks, the promotion of scientific conferences organized by the participating organizations, etc.
The COST Programme encourages the widening of the participation of scientists from different universities, i.e. the participation of university scientists is not limited to participation in the scientific networks in which the UNWE scientists already participate. Any interested scientist can contact the members of the Bone Shares Steering Committees in the field of their scientific interest during the lifetime of the network. The full list of existing COST shares and the procedures for contacting can be found on the Programme website.
